April is Autism Awareness

New numbers from the centers for disease control show that one in every 68 children in the United States has an autism spectrum disorder.  One in every 68 children.  To put that in perspective, your odds of winning five bucks playing the lottery, 1 in one hundred.  Learn the warning signs of autism. The following signs may indicate your child is at risk for an autism spectrum disorder.  No big smiles or joyful expressions by six months, no back and forth sharing of sounds, smiles or other facial expressions by nine months, no babbling by 12 months and no words by 16 months old.  Studies have shown that early treatment improves learning, communication and social skills in young children with autism and talk to your health care professional.
