Donate for Scholarships

Remember how tough PA studies were?  Was financing school also a strugle?  To make life a little bit easier for PA students at the Augsburg and UWLAX programs which are affiliated with MAPA, we provide scholarships to deserving students.  Each year, MAPA awards 4-5 student members with monetary scholarships towards their education.  Some of the scholarships are small as we work within the monies that are donated by generous members like you. 

The Scholarship Committe provides three ways for members to contribute to the scholarship fund.

• Online donations - Any time of year, you can donate to the scholarship fund by using a credit card.  
• Each Fall CME meeting has a fund-raising activity.  We've held a Balloon Pop at the recent Fall conferences. Slips of paper are inserted into each ballon which are then inflated.  For a $10 donation, you pick a balloon, pop it and get the prize listed on the slip of paper.  Everyone is guaranteed a prize which may be a MAPA cap or T-shirt, gift certificate for coffee or gas.  Everyone winns! This year, the Fall CME meeting will be in Baxter, MN Sept 30-Oct 1, 2011
   
• Silent Auction --  During the Spring CME Conference the committee solicits items for a silent auction in the form of theme baskets, gift certificates and hand-made craft items.  MEmbers are encouraged to donate items either by purchasing and donating or seeking donations from companies.  Or attend the event and bid on the items.  
  
  We would like to thank those who helped to make our annual Scholarship Silent Auction so successful. Thank you to Amanda Hachenmueller, a student from Iowa, who was back in MN for a rotation.
  
  This year we had 89 items including handcrafted items, medical books, Minnesota Wild gift certificates and much more. We also had over 50 bidders.
  
  Our final total was $2,335!!! This is the most successful year yet! We also had a great time at the Wine Tasting Event. John Glas taught us useful tips about wine...and we all tasted a few too!
  
  Thanks to the successful fundraising, we were able to award 4 student Scholarships this year. Congratulations to:

  All of the recipients this year are first year students at UW LaCrosse/Gunderson Program.
   
• Personal checks - Checks can be made payable to PA Foundation - MAPA and mailed to MAPA or mailed directly to AAPA.
