Hello future Physician Assistant, 

We would like to be the first to congratulate you on choosing such a rewarding career path. Our names are Courtney Cannon and Stephanie McKee. We are the co-chairs for the membership committee for the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA). We welcome you into this exciting career and to encourage you to get involved in your states Physician Assistant Academy. Whether it be by being a fellow or student member, being a member of your state academy gives you a voice to make valuable changes to our profession. The PA profession has come a long way and as the healthcare system in the United States continues to change, we as PA’s will play an even more important role in providing care for patients. If you are not a member your voice cannot be heard! 

Upon graduation we are offering you a fellowship membership at half price for the first year after graduation – see new grad membership application. We understand money is very short in supply as students and new graduates, but want you to be involved as your opinions and input matter. We invite you to explore the rest of our website, which will give you valuable information about member benefits including job listings, legislative actions and Continuing Medical Education conferences.  

We again congratulate you on your decision to become a Physician Assistant, a career we think is awesome. If Minnesota is not where you will end up practicing, we encourage you to become a member of the state where you hope to be practicing after graduation. It never hurts to start early on networking for preceptor sites as well as future job openings!
