We appreciate your support and encourage you to become active by attending conferences, PA Night Out, scholarship fund-raisers, participating in surveys, or joining a committee or the Board of Directors. All levels of volunteers are welcome!

The Minnesota PA of the Year award will be awarded to the outstanding Physician Assistant who exemplifies and embodies those qualities and philosophies that characterize the profession, and uses those attributes to serve the profession and society.

Have an idea for a project?

Do you have a project you've wanted to get going, but have not had the funds to implement it? The MAPA Board of Directors has approved $500 start up funding for worthy projects which provide health care to Minnesotans or promotes the PA profession in Minnesota. An application for the project can be downloaded here, guidelines for the award are here.

Both of the above applications can be mailed to the MAPA office or saved and attached as an e-mail to MAPA.

Information for Non-Members

By joining MAPA you enter into an ongoing conversation about the PA Profession in Minnesota. Since its founding more than 30 years ago by a handful of PAs, MAPA has grown to over 400 members in all practice settings across the state. The chapter has been instrumental in establishing PA practice in Minnesota statute, including prescriptive practice.

MAPA focuses its efforts on the following issues and activities:

• Providing value to members through service, resources, benefits, and networking opportunities.
• Optimizing the regulatory environment for PA practice in the context of physician-directed teams.
• Securing equitable reimbursement for health services provided by PAs.
• Working to improve access to health care for all Minnesotans.
• Supporting the training of PAs to practice in Minnesota.
• Serving as a resource to Minnesota employers, regulators, legislators, and the corporate community regarding PA practice.
• Networking with other health care organizations to address issues of mutual concern.
